Gear Review: Alpine Fit Rendezvous Ridge Long Sleeve

The Alpine Fit Rendezvous Ridge Long Sleeve in Winter Moss Green Wild Iris fit, size small

I received the Alpine Fit Rendezvous Ridge Long Sleeve to test at the perfect time. I was about to head out on a bikepacking trip in the Sawtooths with the Idaho Women’s Bikepacking Group and I needed a base layer to take with me. The package arrived the morning before I left, so into the seat pack it went!

I changed into the Rendezvous Ridge once I reached my campsite for the night after just over 50 miles of riding. It was a little chilly, but not too bad, and I was nice and warm inside my sleeping bag with just this base layer on top. The perfect cozy camp layer!

The next morning, I was worried that I was going to get too hot pedaling in the Rendezvous Ridge because it felt quite a bit heavier than the sun shirt I’d been riding in the day before (and I had quite a few hills ahead of me), but I decided to try it out anyway.

To my pleasant surprise, it was perfect. Even when the sun came out and I got hotter while riding on an exposed road, the shirt remained comfortable and I knew I was protected from the harsh rays thanks to the UPF 50+ sun protection. The shirt is lightweight, super comfy, and very functional.

The Details

  • Odor-eliminating fabric

  • UPF 50+ sun protection

  • Made with recycled fibers

  • Alpine Fit is based in Alaska and is female founded and operated

  • Colors: Winter Moss Green (shown here) and Misty Bering Sea Blue

  • Sizes: XS - XXL

  • Fits: Wild Iris or Azalea. Wild Iris is designed for a more straight/square shape while Azalea is designed for bodies with more volume through the bust or hips than the waist.

  • Price: $129

The Pros

  • The option to choose your fit is really cool. I chose the Wild Iris and it works well for me - true to size and just right for my body.

  • Somehow it kept me both warm when I needed it and also cool when I needed it.

  • As advertised, it’s both functional and comfortable. Like, really comfortable!

  • Alpine Fit just joined 1% For The Planet and became Climate Neutral Certified - pretty cool!

The Cons

  • This is just personal preference, but I don’t really care for the design on the inside arm panels. I’d love to see a solid color option added into the mix.

  • Another very minor thing, but the tag that’s sewn onto the bottom hem is a little bit scratchy, which subtracts a few points from the coziness factor

  • Right now these shirts are available in sizes XS - XXL. It’d be great to see that expand to more inclusive sizing - 3XL or 4XL.

Final Thoughts

Overall I’m really happy with this shirt and will definitely be taking it with me on many adventures to come, bikepacking and otherwise. I’m always happy to support female-run companies that are making products with sustainability and inclusivisity in mind. Thanks to Alpine Fit for sharing the Rendezvous Ridge with me!
